It has been very hard not to notice the collaboration between rapper Timbuktu and Damn!, which proved to be a very successful alliance during 2003. Damn! started as a club in Mejeriet in Lund, Sweden and at Fredmans in Malmoe, Sweden, which sought to enforce the DJ with live instruments, like drums, percussion, bass, and horns. The aim was to make the music more dynamic and forceful. Favorite tracks were mixed with live congas, bongos, Fender Rhodes, and bass. Damn!s underground album Natural Sounds was played in the basement of the Mejeriet. The track “Stinky stinky ashtray” became a cult hit and was later played on the American TV series Sex and the City. Damn! has also produced music for, among others, the Swedish TV series Cleo and the American TV series Dinner rush. Damn!s debut album Youth style was released in the spring and featured feverish funk/rock, cool soul, sweaty afro, and acid latin. Damn! live counts: Timbuktu (vocals), Svante Lodén (vocals), Erik Hjärpe (keyboards), Måns Mernsten (keyboards), Gustav Lindroth (bass), Måns Block (drums), Sven Andersson (sax), Jens Lindgård (trombone), and Petter Lindgård (trumpet).
