Born in Pakistan, Shabana Rehman came to Norway when she was one year old and grew up in Holmlia (a suburb of Oslo with a high percentage of immigrants and refugees). As a writer, stand-up comedian, and lecturer, she works to break down taboos and create greater tolerance towards questions of integration. For many years, she has been merciless in her critique of religious leaders, male chauvinists, and left-wing liberals for standing in the way of equal rights and the integration of immigrants and refugees. Rehman started to write for VG in 1996 and for Dagbladet in 2000 and has been the editor of a multi-ethnic debate forum. She has given lectures on equal rights, feminism, and humor and has toured in Iceland, the Faroe Islands, Denmark, and Berlin, Germany.

Contribution: Participates with a stand-up comedy show on Friday, October 8, 2004, from 8 – 11 pm in Station 1: The Equestrian Hall, Aarhus.
